Hi and thank you for taking a moment to read my bio. My name is Nicole, and I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a master’s degree in social work (MSW) from the University of Calgary. I am a trauma-informed and identity affirming therapist who works with diverse clients from all backgrounds.
My own personal story includes trauma, neurodivergence and disability, caregiver burnout, and advocating through the care seeking process. This has influenced my passion to provide relationally safe therapy to diverse individuals while they navigate complex life challenges. I view the helping process as sacred and use a client-centred approach to empower individuals as they learn to cope with and process daily life, ongoing challenges, and trauma. I currently offer individual sessions with adults (18+).
I primarily support:
Spiritual and Religious Trauma:
- Institutional betrayal trauma.
- Childhood and Adult Clergy Sexual Abuse.
- Sexual exploitation and other abuse of power dynamics.
- LGBTQ2S+ specific abuse and trauma.
- High influence and control dynamics.
Caregivers of Children, Youth, and Adults with Disabilities:
- Identifying resources and supporting advocacy.
- Learning and practicing self-care and compassion strategies.
- Coping with and working through challenges and trauma.
Sexual Violence:
- Learning about trauma and trauma-informed care.
- Fostering relational safety while working through trauma.
- Referrals to community and clinical support as needed.
Elder Abuse:
- Prevention education, resourcing, and caregiver burnout support.
- Identifying referrals for complex needs.
- Working through the impacts of trauma.
- Exploring personal agency and care options.
Within these groups, I can support a wide range of concerns relating to anxiety, depression, and trauma. Our work together may include solution-focused therapy and strategies informed by attachment, somatic, polyvagal, mindfulness, and parts work therapy. I use trauma-informed care, anti-oppressive practice, and neurodiversity-affirming care in various ways depending on the individual’s needs and preferences.
Sessions are client-led, but can include more direct support when requested. Along our path together, you may inquire about referrals and additional resources as required. I encourage individuals to bring items of comfort and interest to sessions such as music, art, pictures, games, fidgets, grounding tools, or other activities. I also have a variety of items to choose from if you need.
In my personal life, I enjoy music and singing, physical movement such as aerobics, dance, baseball, and basketball, learning, family, relationships, and community.
If you would like to explore the opportunity of working with me, please call our administrative team at 587-287-2686 or email them at [email protected] to book a free 15-minute consultation.
